Written and performed by Rinabeth Apostol, little brown gIRL: work in progress, is a new 80-minute autobiographical comedic cabaret originally conceived and workshopped during Apostol's 2021- 2022 tenure as The Asian Centennial Distinguished Theater Fellow and Class of 1939 Artist-in-Residence at the College of William and Mary. Thru musings and music, little brown gIRL provides a critical lens of the challenges of being a (young), queer, Filipina American from a strict immigrant-activist family; navigating trauma and joy from adolescence to adulthood... all for the sake of being a f*n actor and choosing to live unapologetically. University and college campus tour dates to be announced soon! |

HI. I'M RINABETH!
I've always had my nose in a book. It didn't matter where I was going or what time of the day it was -
I enveloped myself in stories of far away kingdoms and immersed myself in characters traveling in search of _________________.
On road trips, I'd use the headlights of the car behind us to get thru the next chapter -
Always on a journey to discover the next adventure.
It's probably why I got my first pair of glasses when I was seven. And wrote my first full-length (produced!) play in the fifth grade.
I still love stories, only now instead of subjecting my parents to living room performances,
I tell them in professional theatre spaces (or onscreen + on air!) - taking page to stage to inspire and entertain.
It's a passion for creating cultural and personal narratives -
Exploring diverse stories - it makes me happy.
Let's tell them together.
